  1. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the steak generously on both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until very hot. Add the olive oil and swirl to coat the pan.
  4. Add the steak to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
  5. (Optional) If desired, add the butter to the pan during the last minute of cooking. Baste the steak with the butter as it cooks.
  6. (Optional) Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
